FAQ
Q: What is a FAQ?
A:
FAQ is an acronym for "frequently asked questions."
Q. Where is Grumpy Ole Grandpa's Cedar Log Furniture located?
A.
We are located in the small town of Mountain Grove. One hour east of Springfield MO.
Q. What types of wood do you use, and where do you get it?
A.
All of our logs are naturally dried White Cedar which we purchase from local suppliers.
Q. After I place an order, how long will it take me to receive my furniture?
A.
Our normal production time is 2 weeks. If you need your furniture sooner than this, please let us know your time line and we will do our best to produce within that time line.
Q. Can you build custom pieces?
A.
Most of our furniture can be customized without to much trouble. For example, tables can be made longer, shorter, taller, ect. If something other than normal changes need to be made, it could effect the price and the production time We do not make items other than what is on our website.
Q. How much will it cost for shipping?
A.
We are able to ship almost anywhere in the U.S. The customer is responsible for arranging all shipping. Please go to our shipping and handling page. All of our furniture is shipped via common carrier (truck). The cost of shipping is determined by the destination and the weight. You can contact the LTL carrier for an estimated shipping cost.
Q. Can I have my furniture finished by the manufacturer?
A.
Yes we finish or leave our products unfinished because we have the facilities to do so. However, it is the customer who decides.
Q. How do I finish my furniture?
A.
We offer to finish all furniture for a fee. But if this is something ou the customer want to do, you are responsible for the item and we at Grumpy Ole Grandpa's hold no responsibility as to how the item turns out.
To preserve the natural beauty of your rustic furniture, apply 2-3 coats of either an oil or water based polyurethane. Satin, semi gloss or high gloss may be used. Be sure to sand lightly and remove all dust between coats. We found that the oil bases polyurethane gives the furniture a better finish, but it takes longer to dry.
Q. Why are there cracks in my log furniture?
A.
The cracks or "checks" you see in our furniture is a natural and unavoidable characteristic of cedar. These cracks are caused by the natural drying process, and does not effect the structural stability our quality of the product.
Q. How long have you been building furniture?
A.
Grumpy Ole Grandpa's is a family owned business which has been in operation for about 30 years. All of our craftsmen have years of experience in the furniture industry.
